What was your motivation?
My motivation to get healthier came when my mobility was being impacted. I could no longer walk for more than 10 mins, and I had high blood pressure and pre-diabetes. Also, I wasn’t able to do a lot with my kids.

When did you begin your journey?
I started my journey at the beginning of January 2021. My transformation took 17 months to date (August 2022). I had Gastric Bypass surgery on October 22, 2021, and took nutrition classes and therapy to prepare.

What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up
My inspiration is my kids. They continued to cheer me on when I wanted to give up or felt I wasn’t worth it. They believed in me, which was everything I needed to keep pushing forward.

How did you change your eating habits?
My food lifestyle during this journey has been high protein, low-carb, and low-sugar (somewhat keto, except less fat). I started to use specific portion sizes for my meals. I stopped eating bread, potatoes, corn, and processed foods. I also stopped drinking soda.

What was your workout routine?
I went to the gym for a month, but with the kids, I needed a more convenient option. Therefore, I started walking at the park by my home three times a week. In addition, I used my exercise bike three times a week, dumbells three times a week, and ankle weights daily. I’m also currently waist training six times a week.

Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 351 pounds, and I currently weigh 199 pounds. My goal weight is 190 lbs.

What is your height?
My height is 5’11”.

When did you begin your journey?
I started my journey at the beginning of January 2021. My transformation took 17 months to date (August 2022).

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I learned is how to have a healthier relationship with food.

What advice would you like to share with women who have lost weight?
My advice is when you are ready, you will know. Celebrate every Non-Scale Victory. Also, take lots of pictures. Photos help when the scale is not moving.
